Vergelle, near San Diovanni d'Asso in TuscanyVergelle is situated in the heart of the Val D’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the province of San Giovanni D’Asso. The Val D’Orcia offers unparalleled views of characteristic Tuscan landscapes with rolling hills, ravines, winding river beds and acres of olives groves and vineyards. The villa is well situated for site seeing, within easy driving distance to the famous historic medieval walled city Siena (40kms) and very close to dozens of other small and beautiful towns including the famous wine producing towns of Montalcino (Brunello) and Montepulciano (Vino Nobile), and the very pretty and historical towns of Pienza (21kms) and San Quirico D’Orcia (13kms).
Vergelle is 4 kms from Torrenieri which has a number of local stores – supermarket, various bars and restaurants, a bank and pharmacy amongst others. Torrenieri is also connected by a colloquial train service that connects with Siena and also allows you to amble around various villages on the way – the service runs from Spring to Autumn. The hamlet of Vergelle has seen extensive renovation during 2007 & 2008 and now consists of three large connected townhouses (converted from an Old School building) and a small number of apartments. The hamlet also boasts a lovely local restaurant that provides excellent food and good service all at a very reasonable price.
